Reflecting on a Current Hypothesis Around Geomagnetic activity and its relationships with Paranormal Activity

Considering our environment in Paranormal Activity
How does the Sun's activity affect the paranormal?

Yesterday, I was listening to an episode on channelling via the site Gaia and heard a statement which was being stated as fact. Of course, this didn't sit well with me because for something to have been said so strongly, there HAD to be evidence out there, real evidence. This was a profound statement and absolutely would have an effect on our investigations into the future. This statement was: "During periods of heightened solar activity, i.e. solar flares, the higher geomagnetic effect causes an increase in paranormal activity while a decrease in geomagnetism allows for a greater effect in 'Psi' activities, i.e. mediumship, channelling, sixth sense etc." So, I had a look..

What are Solar Flares

Solar flares are bursts of energy released from the Sun when its magnetic fields become twisted and snaps back and re-corrects itself. This process releases a huge amount of electromagnetic radiation, including X-rays and ultraviolet light, along with high-energy particles. Solar flares are classified by strength, with the largest (X-class flares) capable of releasing energy equivalent to millions of nuclear explosions. The light and radiation from a flare reaches Earth in about eight minutes.

When solar flares are strong, they can disrupt radio communications, GPS signals, satellites, and power systems. Solar flare activity follows an 11-year solar cycle, with more frequent and powerful flares occurring during predicted periods making them an important factor in what is termed as "space weather.”

Correlation with Increased Paranormal Activity

There are some theories, together with a small amount of research that geomagnetic activity correlates with reports of hauntings. Several neurophysiological (how the brain operate at a biological and electrical level) explanations have been suggested, however, it is important to know that there is little evidence and is not firmly proven nor widely accepted currently by mainstream science.

By adopting a differing perspective, that humans are electromagnetic or holographic conscious systems, make these ideas feel more intuitive, however, these models remain speculative and conceptual rather than supported by clear empirical evidence.

Geomagnetic activity and paranormal reports

Several lines of research have explored links between geomagnetic “space weather” and reports of paranormal phenomena.

  • There are some correlational studies which suggest that spontaneous haunt-type experiences and apparitional reports cluster under particular geomagnetic conditions, although findings are mixed and often criticised for methodological weaknesses.

  • A body of parapsychology work, including analyses of anecdotal telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition reports, finds that telepathic or “psi” experiences tend to be more frequently reported on days of relatively low geomagnetic disturbance.

These are correlations only which are considered to be a small sample size and do not by themselves establish that geomagnetic changes cause either paranormal experiences, nor that the experiences reflect genuine 'Psi' i.e. non-ordinary information transfers rather than altered perception or cognition.

Possible neurophysical mechanisms

Researcher Michael Persinger et al has proposed that weak, complex magnetic fields can interact with temporal lobe and limbic structures in ways that modulate perception, emotion and a sense of presence.

  • Laboratory work using magnetic stimulation of the temporal lobes has produced experiences interpreted as sensed presences, unusual bodily feelings, and “numinous” states, suggesting that brain regions implicated in spiritual and anomalous experiences are magnetically sensitive.

  • Parapsychology literature on geomagnetic activity proposes that low geomagnetic disturbance may support subtle phase coherence or signal-to-noise conditions in limbic and Para-hippocampal regions, making internally generated or anomalous information states easier to access or notice.

In one telepathy-oriented EEG study, protracted activation of the right Para-hippocampal area was associated with a reputed psychic during “telepathic” tasks, and the authors noted that spontaneous reports of telepathy in wider populations were more frequent under low-intensity geomagnetic conditions (<20 nT). This kind of work underpins the suggestion that low geomagnetic activity may favour “channelling” or ESP-like experiences, while higher disturbance could instead push the system toward instability, misperception or more dramatic haunt-like phenomena.

Why flares and storms might bias experience

If one treats the brain as a sensitive electrochemical oscillator embedded in a fluctuating geomagnetic environment, different geomagnetic states can be thought of as setting different boundary conditions for neural dynamics i.e. a range of activity.

  • High geomagnetic disturbance, such as during strong solar flares and storms, alters the ambient magnetic environment and has been tentatively linked with subtle changes in mood, irritability and cognitive efficiency, although evidence is still emerging. In a sensitive person, such perturbation could plausibly increase the likelihood of misattributed perceptions, sensed presences or anomalous lights that are then could be read as hauntings or “poltergeist” activity.

  • Low geomagnetic disturbance could, in contrast, create a relatively quiet electromagnetic background, potentially supporting more stable phase-locking between internal oscillatory systems, such as cortical rhythms and Schumann-like resonances, which some authors propose might favour experiences interpreted as telepathy, clairvoyance or deep meditative.

From this perspective therefore, both “paranormal activity” and “channelling” states might reflect different ways a highly sensitive neural system responds to changes in the electromagnetic environment, rather than different ontological events.

Let's now add Holographic and light-based models

Holographic theories of brain and consciousness argue that cognition involves distributed interference patterns rather than localised experience storage, analogising memory and perception to hologram formation. In holonomic brain theory, Karl Pribram and David Bohm proposed that cortical dendritic (actual brain structures) fields generate and process such interference patterns, with consciousness emerging from wave-like activity in a high-dimensional phase space. (i.e. It means that tiny parts of your brain work together like moving ripples, and when those ripples mix and flow in just the right way, that’s what creates your thoughts and awareness.)

Are we light energy or not?
Are we Light Energy?

If human beings are conceived as holographic or light-like structures where information is encoded in phase and amplitude relationships across the whole organism, then geomagnetic conditions may be viewed as altering the “illumination” or intensity under which the hologram is read.

  • In a hologram, small changes in the coherence, phase or frequency of the reference wave can drastically change what image is reconstructed; analogously, small changes in external electromagnetic context might modulate which patterns of information in the brain-body field become phenomenally salient, perhaps supporting the impression of accessing non-local information under certain conditions.

  • Quantum-holographic models of consciousness go further, suggesting that non-local correlations between individual brains and a larger quantum information field; within such a framework, low geomagnetic activity might minimise decoherence and environmental noise, making non-local couplings slightly more robust, while higher activity increases noise and generates more chaotic, fragmentary experiential material. It is said that the etheric field is an information field and there are again many theories on this...

These models provide a 'why' an energetically or holographically structured self might be differentially affected by solar and geomagnetic variation, but they are highly speculative and not endorsed by mainstream neuroscience.wikipedia+1

A cautious closing position

To focus on a final closing position, I suggest taking a number of differing viewpoints:

  • Empirically, (observation) there are statistically suggestive but contested correlations between geomagnetic activity and certain anomalous experiences, with some work pointing to increased haunt or apparition reports around disturbed fields and enhanced psi-related reports around quieter geomagnetic conditions.

  • Mechanistically, (i.e. like a machine) plausible pathways exist via magnetically sensitive limbic and Para-hippocampal structures, circadian and pineal modulation, and the general impact of geomagnetic “weather” on brain rhythms and mood, but none are yet definitive, and effect sizes are likely small.

  • Conceptually, (theory or idea) thinking of humans as holographic or light-like information fields nested within larger electromagnetic structures does sit with the 'feeling' that solar activity and geomagnetic shifts could shape consciousness and anomalous experiences, yet such frameworks currently function more as integrative metaphors and research heuristics than as established theory. This idea also covers belief systems.

From a somewhat rather cautious perspective, it is reasonable to treat the proposed links between solar flares, geomagnetism, paranormal activity and channelling as an intriguing hypotheses. This information could point to real sensitivities of human consciousness to subtle environmental fields, but current evidence does not yet justify strong claims about causation or fully developed holographic-energetic models of the self.assap+3

My recommendation based on this article is to conduct your own empirical experiments, use the 'weather' and environment to your advantage. You could gather better evidence or should we now throw other variables such as belief and bias into the mix? The adventures beyond the veil continue...
