What’s in Your Hotel Room?

Have you ever had that strange, indescribable feeling when staying in a hotel room? That shift in the air, the chill that doesn’t come from the radiator, the sense that something, or someone, is with you?
It happens to me more often than I’d like to admit.
I’ve always been sensitive to energy, and as someone who walks the line between investigator, medium and intuitive, hotel rooms often seem to hold onto something more than forgotten luggage or echoes of conversations.
For me personally, two that spring to mind are Lewtrenchard Manor and the Crab and Boar, both undeniably charming places, yet both gave me that feeling. You know the one. You’re not alone, even though the door is locked, and the lights are out. Indeed, I remember going for a meal at The Queen's Hotel in Southsea, Portsmouth. In the dining room while I was sitting, there was a feeling of the chair being pulled back from the table during the meal. A very odd sensation.
Okay, Hotel Room, I Think I Know What's Coming...
So I did what any curious paranormal investigator would do… I started setting up cameras in my room.
My most recent stay took me to a hotel located on or near the encampment sites of two major battles: Towton (1461) and Marston Moor (1644). Two of the bloodiest and most significant battles ever fought on English soil. It’s fair to say that, historically, this land has soaked up its share of suffering, fear, and emotion. The perfect recipe, I suppose, for residual energy or something far more intelligent.
At around 10pm, I knew I wasn’t alone. It wasn’t just a feeling; it was a certainty. Something was in the room with me, and it stayed until about 2am.
I had a temperature recorder set up. The main unit showed a stable 21°C. However, the remote sensor? It bizarrely showed 3°C. I assumed it was an error and reset the system, and the anomaly never appeared again. It remained between 21–22°C for the rest of the night. Was it just a glitch… or a glimpse?
At around 2am, the IR motion camera detected movement (see the video below). Two orbs were captured. The first shot across the frame quickly, trying to debunk it, perhaps it was an insect, easily dismissed. Yet the second? This was different. Spherical, pulsating, and slow-moving. It started above me and floated to the opposite side of the room, eerily similar to orbs I’ve seen in known active locations such as Groundlings Theatre.
Then the camera died.
The power bank, previously just fully charged, drained entirely. That setup should have lasted through the night and well into the next day. It has never failed me before. For me, something drained it and something didn't want to be watched.
I think that I fell asleep as soon as I couldn’t feel the presence and the energy veil lifted. I could tell because the atmosphere shifted, returning back to calm, quiet, and still. The following morning, I restarted my recordings, curious to see if the activity would return. However, the room was peaceful again. Empty.
Do you ever get that feeling when you're away from home?
That quiet sense that you’re being observed, or that you're not quite alone, even when all the evidence says otherwise?
I’ve learned not to ignore those feelings. Whether it’s residual energy echoing through time, or a conscious spirit stopping by, some rooms come with more than a bed and mini-bar or kettle.
So next time you find yourself in a new room, maybe just pause for a moment and ask…
What or who’s in your room?
