Introduction: Seeing the World Differently
What if the universe as we know it isn't truly "real"? What if we're not living in a tangible, objective reality, but in something more akin to a holographic projection or even a simulation? If that's the case, could the beings we call spirits simply exist on another layer, another channel in the code? Taking a pragmatic view, whilst acknowledging my interest/bias as a paranormal investigator, I find the intersection of light, energy, and unexplained phenomena deeply compelling. This article begins to explore that connection through theory, metaphor, and grounded examples.
A Holographic Universe: Living in a Projected Reality
The holographic universe theory suggests that our 3D reality is a projection from a 2D surface, like a hologram. Every particle, every event, even consciousness itself, might be encoded on a distant boundary. From a simulation perspective, this idea aligns with the possibility that we live in a digitally-rendered environment governed by base rules: mathematics, energy exchange, and informational flow.
In such a system, what we perceive as solid matter is simply vibrating energy shaped into form. The experiences we call life, emotion, and even death may just be shifts in the frequency or resolution of this simulated layer, the etheric layer which fully exists in science.
Spirits on a Different Bandwidth
Now let us take a further step. If reality is code, or a field of frequencies, then it's reasonable to assume that other forms of consciousness or intelligence could exist within that same codebase, just operating at a different frequency range or bandwidth / partition. Think of an old radio: all the stations are broadcast simultaneously, but we can only hear the one we're tuned to. The channel is simply termed selectivity, which is slightly differing frequency so as not to interfere. This is not to be confused with hearing a second station at the same frequency which happened when the environmental conditions allowed for extended propagation ranges i.e. ducting.
Spirits, then, may not be "gone" but simply exist in another part of the universal spectrum. Their presence may be around us constantly, but our consciousness, our perception, does not typically tune into their bandwidth.
A Model for Energy-to-Light Conversion
So if we are light energy, we should better understand how such interactions could happen, we must briefly examine the behaviour of light through the lens of one of our most ubiquitous modern tools: the LED (Light Emitting Diode).
An LED works by allowing current to flow through two semiconductor materials:
N-type (negative) has extra electrons.
P-type (positive) has spaces (holes) for electrons.
When electricity, or a forward bias (typically, 1.8-3.3 VDC), is applied, electrons jump across the junction, filling the holes. As they fall into these lower energy states, they release energy as photons; light.
This is pure, efficient energy transformation: electricity becomes visible light. The key here is that specific conditions allow invisible energy to become visible, a perfect metaphor for spirit communication. Different colours occur because of the different wavelengths (frequencies). Infra-Red is typically 1.2v and has a wavelength of 850-940 nm while white has 4V and a wavelength of 450nm.
If We Are Light: Consciousness and Frequency
Many spiritual traditions, and now some theoretical physics models, suggest that we are not our bodies, we are consciousness, or energy, having a physical experience. If that's true, then we are essentially patterns of vibration encoded in light and energy fields.
Just like photons in an LED are released by a shift in energy state, perhaps our consciousness or "spirit" exists as a vibrational field. In death, the body ceases, but the field continues, shifting frequency, becoming part of a different layer of the system.
In a holographic or simulated universe, these patterns could persist like background processes, visible only when the "rendering engine" (our perception or sensors) is disturbed or focused properly.
Bringing It Together: The Paranormal as a Frequency Crossover
If spirits are always present, but simply tuned to a different frequency, then certain environmental or energetic changes might create brief overlaps:
Cold Spots: Absorption of ambient energy to power a manifestation.
EMF Spikes: Disturbance or fluctuation in local electromagnetic fields as a spirit shifts between bandwidths.
Orbs or Apparitions: Visible light emission as a by-product of frequency crossover—like electrons releasing photons in LEDs.
Pressure Drops: Local changes in air density as energy condenses or shifts form.
These phenomena suggest a pattern, much like an LED, where energy under the right conditions creates visible, measurable output. Further evidence of this energetic crossover can be seen in how spirits may influence electronic systems:
EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) may be formed when entities impress their frequency or intent onto a recording medium, subtly altering sound waves or electromagnetic fields that are later interpreted as voices.
Flickering Lights resemble interference in an electrical current—similar to unstable voltage affecting an LED. A spirit's presence could momentarily disrupt the flow of energy, causing visible flickers.
Manipulation of TVs, radios, or other devices may occur through frequency interference. If spirits operate at a slightly different electromagnetic signature, they might be able to hijack or subtly alter the data stream, much like tuning into a weak station and hearing ghostly snippets between static.
In each of these, the consistent pattern is energy transformation or field interference, which aligns with our broader LED-spirit analogy.
Devices like EMF meters, cat balls, spirit boxes, and thermal cameras serve as attempts to "tune in" to these frequencies. They are the dials on our cosmic radio, helping us listen in on another channel.
Cat balls, triggered by slight energy shifts, may be reacting to frequency interferences.
EMF meters detect fluctuations in ambient fields—potentially the influence of spirit energy attempting to bridge channels.
Thermal cameras show cold spots that correspond to energy draws—possibly where a spirit is converting ambient energy into a usable form.
Spirit boxes, scanning across radio frequencies, may act as dynamic tuning devices, where spirits attempt to push their signal through gaps in the noise.
These tools don’t prove spirits exist—but they suggest interactions that may point to conscious energy behaving outside normal parameters.
Manipulating Matter: Spirit Contact and Interaction with Physical Objects
Within this theoretical framework, the movement of physical objects by spirits, often termed as psychokinesis or telekinetic interaction, can be seen as a deliberate act of frequency modulation. Just as an LED transforms electrical current into visible light under the right conditions, a spirit may manipulate the local electromagnetic or etheric field to affect physical matter. If all objects are fundamentally vibrating energy, then altering the resonance of the space around an object, even minutely, could create enough force to overcome inertia, causing movement. This would require focused intention and an energetic draw, often leading to phenomena such as EMF spikes, cold spots, or static discharges.
In essence, the spirit is not “pushing” the object in a mechanical sense but is interfacing with the energy field the object exists within, reshaping the simulation code momentarily to produce visible physical change. It is said that spirits manipulate 'fluid' to achieve this, could this be referring to the etheric field?
Final Thoughts: We Are the Frequency
If we are light-energy experiencing a physical reality, then perhaps spirit contact is less about them reaching us, and more about us remembering how to reach them.
Like an LED, when the right voltage and flow are achieved, light appears. Like a spirit, when the right energy, intent, and awareness are aligned, contact is possible.
This theory is far from conclusive, but it offers a framework for continued investigation. Not everything can be measured in volts or meters. Perhaps with the right tools, tuned minds, and open questions, we can continue to explore the deeper frequencies of reality, and those who still dwell there.
