They say history leaves its mark, not just in stone and steel, but in the very air around us. During a recent evidence review from our visit to Nothe Fort, a moment long past seemed to come vividly, almost defiantly, back to life.

While we often chase the thrill of the moment, the sudden chill, the flicker of a cat ball, the whisper of unseen voices, it’s easy to forget that the real secrets sometimes reveal themselves long after the night ends. Sitting quietly with a coffee, headphones on, and reviewing footage from the Paranormal Hunters UK team, I heard something that made my day - this was passed to my Barry Depp and, as I was there on the night, I can certainly help to give his findings context!

An announcement in Nothe Fort!

Clear as day, over what sounded unmistakably like a tannoy system, chimes and then an announcement OR at least sounds like an annoucement to me. The question is... was this the very same system that’s been disconnected for decades.

A blast from the Cold War? A residual echo imprinted into the very fabric of the fort’s stone walls, a perfect example of the Stone Tape Theory? Or… was it something far more intelligent? Was it a music box or some other sound system?

On the night we were there, we experienced chills that seemed to wrap around us like icy fingers, orbs were seen that danced with purpose, and a persistent sense that we were being watched from the shadows. We heard whistling and movements. It wasn’t until we took the time to revisit the captured content that this truly remarkable piece of evidence emerged.

Stone Tape Theory or Intelligent Presence?

Stone Tape Theory suggests that intense emotional events, fear, stress, even military readiness, can imprint themselves onto physical locations, replaying under certain conditions like a historical recording. Nothe Fort, with its Cold War nuclear command centre and centuries of military history, is one such prime candidate.

Sometimes… those echoes respond - this is an indication of intelligence and deliberate action by an unknown entity.
